One of the most popular ways to enjoy rice is to make takikomi gohan (literally gboiled with riceh), where the rice is cooked along with assorted vegetables and sometimes meat or seafood. Popular ingredients include takenoko (bamboo shoots), kuri chestnuts and matsutake mushrooms.
