UK Sushi Roll Championship 2012

Be Part of the UK’s Only Professional Sushi Competition

Eat-Japan is looking for restaurants to participate in the Eat-Japan Sushi Awards: UK Sushi Roll Championship 2012. Five nominated restaurants will be asked to create a unique sushi roll to be prepared and served to ticket holders during the 2012 HYPER JAPAN event. The winner will be chosen by public vote, and the most popular sushi will be crowned Sushi Roll of the Year 2012.

Please be aware that entry is limited to restaurants and owners/employees of restaurants only. Entries cannot be accepted from individuals.

Event Outline

Date:  Friday 24 February – Sunday 26 February 2012
Location: Central London

Outline: Prepare and serve 1800 pieces of sushi (300 rolls, 5 pieces per roll) over three days (Friday, 400 pieces; Saturday, 690 pieces; Sunday, 115 rolls) and serve to ticket holders at the HYPER JAPAN event. Restaurants will be given expenses per roll, and miscellaneous expenses. Restaurants will be featured on the Eat-Japan and HYPER JAPAN websites, and be promoted across event-related media as one of the highlights of the event. The Championship will be widely promoted in both the UK and Japan, and participation in the Championship guarantees broad and targeted exposure for restaurants and chefs.

About Selection

The selection of Nominated Restaurants is carried out according to the quality and originality of the entry sushi idea submitted via the application form (above). Applications are invited from any of the 500+ Japanese restaurants located within the UK. The Organiser will then review all applications received, and select five finalist restaurants which will be invited to participate in the Sushi Awards. Restaurants and chefs are encouraged to submit ideas which reflect their unique skills and approach to sushi. The inspiration and concept behind each entry sushi, and its flavour combinations, will be used to select the five Nominated Restaurants, as well as ingredients and methods.
