Launched in 1999 by the eponymous Mr. Taro, this casual and funky noodle bar models itself on a casual Japanese shokudo, or diner. The atmosphere is friendly, the prices low, the menu varied and the ingredients super fresh. As well as great noodles – as this ranking shows – the chicken teriyaki dish is a perennial favourite.
A steaming bowl of noodles is one of Japan’s ultimate convenience foods – it’s the equivalent of everything from a quick lunch to an end-of-the-night kebab, and Japanese can be super-discerning when it comes to both the noodles and the soup. Ryo’s made-in-Japan taste, décor and ordering style clearly make this an authentic dining experience for the UK’s Japanese community. |
