JAPANESE RECIPES

It’s Christmas. A time for giving and thinking of others, yes, but also a time for reaping the benefits of the holiday season – not going to work, eating and drinking lots, and spending time with family and friends.
Why not go for something different this year and invite your nearest and dearest to a Japanese-themed party. It might sound like hard work, but it doesn’t have to be! Temaki sarada, or hand-rolled salad, is a rice-free take on the most relaxed of all sushi styles, and all you have to do as the host is lay the ingredients out for everyone to grab. You can be creative with fillings and cater easily for vegetarians, people with special diets, and so on. If you hit on a particularly good combination, why not share the recipe on our new blog, Gaijin Gourmet. Lightly-pickled vegetables make a great snack to serve alongside the usual olives and chips. Finally, serve your sweet-toothed guests with some miso biscuits for an unusual twist!
