SEVEN SUSHI SAMURAI
A Unique and Enchanting Occasion
The Seven Sushi Samurai are the seven sushi chefs annually selected from countries around the globe to represent the very pinnacle of sushi talent around the world in Eat-Japan’s Sushi Awards. At this unique event, the samurai gather for one night only, and must prepare enough pieces of their original sushi dish to serve to the audience and guest judge panel, in order to stand the chance of being honoured with the apex of sushi achievement, the Sushi of the Year Award. With samurai-like pride in their craft and a great taste for success, the Seven Sushi Samurai are pushed to greater and greater levels of achievement each year, and we are expecting this year to be the best yet in terms of creativity, flair, and jaw-dropping skill.
Masters of the Sushi Profession in a Nail-biting Contest
Last year’s sushi awards saw nail-biting competition from seven veritable showmen, preparing their masterful creations with lightning speed and super-professional concentration. The sushi pieces themselves were mind-blowing in their inventiveness, with Jeff Ramsey’s 'The Whole Salmon' making use of every part of a salmon and garnished with an edible origami crane, and the splendid 'Fruits De La Mer Millefeuille', created by Noriyoshi Watanabe from Tsukiji Tamazushi, Japan, where seafood, sushi rice and sumptuous sauces were delicately layered. !
Prepare Yourself for the Best Event Yet!

This year’s Sushi Awards look set to be even more stunning than previous years. With samurai from countries never before involved in the contest, and representatives from both East and West America including the creator of a Michelin-starred restaurant, we are expecting the event to have a wholly international feel, and in another exciting twist, we are accepting applications from the UK’s top chefs for the first time ever, in order to discover the nation’s most promising sushi talents.
