The Economist features this great article about Kunio Harimoto, the head of Toto, a Japanese firm that makes toilets - amazing, shiny, all-singing, all-dancing toilets. When I lived in the world’s snowiest city (per capita), my heated toilet seat was, quite frankly, a saving grace on icy cold mornings. Although a terrible waste of energy, of course. If you read all the way down, you’ll see a quite amazing fact: these new-fangled toilet account for 4% of all household energy consumption in Japan - more than clothes dryers and dishwashers. Amazing.
If you’ve never had the chance to use one, you’re missing out, seriously. As far as I can remember, Saki in Farringdon has them - as well as utterly delicious food.

Okay, this has nothing to do with food, but it is brilliant - eyebrow dog!
